Mary Demlow, 99

Mary Demlow, former Antigo resident, died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Hillview Nursing Home in LaCrosse. She was 99 years old. She was born on February 14, 1916 in Antigo, a daughter of Joseph and Mary (Gregor) Prokupek.

Mary attended St. John Parochial school, graduated from Antigo High School with the class of 1934 and completed two years of college in Antigo.

Her first husband, William Lutz, died as a result of a plane crash in 1950. On December 18, 1953 she married Alvin Demlow. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1983.

Following schooling Mary worked at Woolworth’s Department Store in Antigo for several years. From 1950 – 1978 she was employed as a lab technician at Kraft Foods in Antigo. Following retirement Mary moved to LaCrosse where she was a long time member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

She enjoyed sewing, knitting, needlework and reading.

Survivors include a daughter, Bonita (David) Koudelka, LaCrosse; two sons, John (Constance) Lutz, Burlington, William (Susan) Lutz, Sparta; a step-daughter, Ruth (Floyd) Dennee, Long Beach, California; three step-sons, Jerry (Gale) Demlow, Antigo, Thomas Demlow, Racine, Larry Demlow, Hartford; seven grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; a very special friend Patricia “Pat” Williams.

In addition to her husbands she was preceded in death by an infant son David Lutz; a step-daughter, Judith Rudolph, and a sister, Della Ethier.

A funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday at Bradley Funeral Home.
