STEVENS POINT – Mead Wildlife Area managers will host an annual public meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, to discuss the experience of hunters and visitors during the 2015 waterfowl season.
The meeting will be held at the Mead Visitor Center, located between Stevens Point and Marshfield, five miles north of U.S. 10 on County Highway S. Property managers invite waterfowl hunters and other interested individuals to take this opportunity to share impressions of the past waterfowl season and hopes for future seasons.
This meeting has been held annually for several years, and is a great opportunity for property users to learn more about the property and its unique public use opportunities. Beginning with the 2010 waterfowl season, these grassroots efforts resulted in the implementation of a series of special waterfowl hunting season regulations designed to improve waterfowl hunter experience at Mead.
Anticipated topics to be discussed at this year’s meeting include:
- 2015 waterfowl season overview;
- feedback regarding existing shooting hour and season regulations;
- McMillan Wildlife Area season overview;
- canoe tie-up areas; and
- 2016 wetland management plans for Mead and McMillan Marsh Wildlife Areas.
Other season issues and items will also be open for discussion.
