The Antigo Public Library will be closed from August 29th to October 3rd for a thorough renovation.
The 19-year old downtown library will receive new carpet, painting, and a new circulation desk. The modernized front desk will feature a new security system, new gates, and an easier method of distribution for the library staff.
The original magnetic desensitizing system that was suppose to allow books to be checked out without the alarm going off never operated, and staff was forced to walk the books, movies, and other media to the other side of the sensor-activated gates. Now, a modular desk with a radio frequency scanning system will be incorporated for ease of checking out and better security.
