Lorraine Sylvia Fondow, longtime Antigo resident, died Friday, September 23, 2016, a week before her 97th birthday at Homme Home of Wittenberg.
She was born September 30, 1919 in Marathon County’s Town of Harrison to the late Henry and Elizabeth (Strasser) Geiger. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Elmhurst. She married Gordon E. Fondow on November 29, 1940, and Gordon preceded her in death in 1988.
Mrs. Fondow was a homemaker. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Charlene Gibson of Antigo, Gloria Volkman of Antigo, and Mary (Tom) Banczak of Antigo; a son, Eugene (Debbie) Fondow of Mosinee; 3 brothers, Arthur Geiger of Milwaukee, Gerald (Mary) Geiger of Aniwa, and Lyle Geiger of Aniwa; 11 grandchildren, Kevin (Cathy) Clark of Sturgeon Bay, Larry (Shirley) Clark, Jr. of Wausau, Shawna (Randy) Liebergen of Antigo, Letha Gibson of Weston, Steve (Jeanne) Volkman of Antigo, Burt (Jennie) Volkman of Antigo, Brenda (Tim) Bera of Antigo, Abigail Fondow of Mosinee, Isabella Fondow of Mosinee, Michelle (Paul) Pritchard of Green Bay, and Pamela Belott (fiancé Jarrod) of Weston; 17 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Renee, June, and a sister who died in infancy; 6 brothers, Milton, Henry, Charles, William, Ernest, and Edwin; and a step-great grandson, Steve.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. David Karolus and lay minister Jeff Nielson officiating. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home and 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday at Peace Lutheran Church. Interment will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery.
