Bernice V. Pearson, 92
Bernice V. Pearson, age 92, of Wausau went to her heavenly home on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Aspirus Hospice House. She now walks with her Lord the streets of Heaven, pain-free.
Bernice was born on December 21, 1923 in Antigo to the late Walter and Alma (Kieper) Parsons.
On April 14, 1945 she was united in marriage to LeRoy Pearson at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Polar. LeRoy preceded her in death on December 22, 2003.
Bernice was a homemaker and also worked as a waitress at Duffy’s Chicken, Claude’s, and Ivan’s. She lived most of her life in Langlade County, moving to the Wausau area in 1993.
She was a “horseshow grandma” and cookie maker. She was a member of Polar Happy Homemakers and was a 4-H leader. She was the ultimate gardener, and was still working in the garden just two weeks before her death.
She was a past member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Polar, where she was active in Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Ladies Aid and taught Sunday School. She was currently a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Wausau.
The strong legacy of her faith continues, passed down to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Kitty (Bill Boyd) Mork of Rhinelander, Wendy (Tim) Goffin of Wausau, Debbie (Frank) Henry of Wausau; her sister, Margaret Bartz of Antigo; 2 sisters-in-law, Lucille Parsons of Antigo and Eleanor Koepke of Pewaukee; 9 grandchildren, Paul (Jeanne) Mork, Sandy Readenour, Skip (Jenny) Mork, Mark Goffin, Jill (Colleen Belongea) Goffin, Ashley (Jason) Williams, Nick (Nicole) Goffin, Amanda Henry, and Abbie Wood; 10 great grandchildren, Brooke, Braden, Eli, Jannah, Brianna, Sophia, Ada Rae, Aubrey, Ayden, and Elyse; and many nieces and nephews. She was like a grandma and great grandma to many others.
In addition to her husband and parents, Bernice was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Deloris Kohn and Lorraine Hintze; 2 brothers Carl and Gordon Parsons; and a son-in-law, Gene Mork.
Visitation will take place from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Wausau, with a time of sharing and prayers at 7:00. A second visitation will be 9:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Polar. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Polar, with Rev. Donald Engebretson and Rev. Bruce Lamont officiating.
Interment will follow the service at St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery.
A memorial will be established in Bernice’s name at a later date.
