Kenneth Joseph Bastle, 87
He was born November 21, 1930 in Milwaukee, son of the late Joseph and Amalia (Kingle) Bastle. He married Phyllis Steger on January 31, 1960 in Milwaukee, and she survives.
Ken was a graduate of Pulaski High School. He was in the US Air Force from 1952-1955, and served in the Korean War. He was employed in Milwaukee at Woolworth, Singer Controls, Cook Construction, Chicago and Northwestern Railroad, Allis-Chalmers, and Milwaukee Public Schools. He also operated the Deerbrook Grocery with his wife.
He loved visits from his grandchildren, and was proud of the Bastle family name. He also enjoyed bowling, billiards, and was an avid music fan. During his working years, he loved going out to hear music on Friday nights.
He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Deerbrook.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Pam (Bill) Moffitt of Waynesville, MO; 5 sons, Tom (Patty) Adamski of Oshkosh, Jeff (Laurie) Bastle of Antigo, Cliff (Julie) Bastle of Antigo, Ken (Holli) Bastle of Antigo, and Dan (Bobbie) Bastle of Antigo; 15 granchildren, Heather, Lori, Sheryl, Matt, Brandon, Brittney, Rob, Emily, Luke, TJ, Becky, Zach, Zoe, Garrett, Colin; 4 great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Calvin, Nolan, and Elliot Jean; and a stepsister, Geraldine (Dave) Kotecki.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Bastle; his mother and stepfather, Amalia and Jerry Dehlinger; a sister, Marge Wagman; and 2 brothers, Cliff and Ron Bastle.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Deerbrook, with Rev. Jerome Hahn officiating. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, and 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday at the church. Local military veterans will present military rites at the church. Interment at the Town of Summit Cemetery will follow the service and military honors.
