Antigo Tennis takes windy loss to Pacelli
The Antigo boys tennis team didn’t find a lot to cheer about as they lost to Stevens Point Pacelli 1-6. Playing in only their second match of the season, the Robins did not match up well against Pacelli. The opposition was playing in their seventh match of the season, and their experience served them well, as most of them beat their Antigo foe while losing no more than one game the entire match.
“My players didn’t handle the competition very well. The wind was blowing hard and the team just seemed to lose focus.”
The lone high spot was Antigo’s number one doubles team of Bunnell and Bartletti. The young duo played a very aggressive net game along with consistent ground strokes to topple the Pacelli pair. After easily winning the first set, 6-2, the competition toughened and both teams fought a see saw battle to 6-6. In the tie break, Antigo fell behind 2-4 before winning the next 5 straight points to seal their victory.
