Northland Pines Eagles soar away with a win over Lady Robins Soccer
For the Antigo Times
The Lady Robins soccer squad traveled to Eagle River to take on the Northland Pines Eagles on a warm Tuesday evening.
Antigo started the game with incredible zeal to play their best and they did. However at 4:55 the Eagles were able to make their first strike with a high lofter to the far corner. The Robins took that goal and used it to fire themselves up and moved the ball well up to the attack allowing several shots on goal.
The defensive line was able to hold the Eagles until the 26th minute of the game, when another shot was put in the back of the net. Antigo’s KarleeMae Schulz was able to get a shot on goal, but with no luck getting it to the back of the net. The Eagles were able to get one more goal, making the score 3-0 going into the half.
The second half was a different story for the Robins. With a couple injuries on the defensive line, Antigo was forced to make changes that they were not used to. Within the first minute of the second half, the Eagles were able to make their fourth goal. The Eagles really picked up their game, taking advantage of Antigo’s weaknesses and were able to break down the defensive line. They ultimately were able to bring in 6 more goals before 79 minutes bringing the final to 10-0.
Goalie Jena Nonnenmacher had 34 saves on the night, the most she has had all season.
Antigo travels to Mosinee Thursday to take on the Indians.
