Doris Brown, 95
Doris Bown went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the age of 95 after a short stay at the Homme Home of Wittenberg.
She was born on July 24, 1922 in Wabeno, the daughter of the late Herman and Marie (Ashbeck) Niermann.
On June 3, 1944, she married Melbourne ‘Bud’ Zwicky who preceded her in death on September 3, 1970. On November 3, 1972, she married Eugene Brown. He preceded her in death on June 23, 2015.
Doris Bown graduated from Wabeno High School, attended Beauty School in Wausau, and then worked at the Beauty Nook in Antigo. She learned farming after marriage to her first husband, Bud Zwicky. She worked as a waitress, clerked at Aniwa Hardware and then the grocery store well into her 80’s. Her work at the Birnamwood Bakery was where she learned cake baking and taught herself decorating. Her wedding cakes were works of art! Doris enjoyed baking chocolate chip cookies for her grandchildren. She was also famous for her strawberry pies which she made for the Hogarty Church ice cream social every year. Doris loved camping and attending the Fuddfest music festival.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry (Joan) Zwicky of Green Bay, Dale (Sharon) Zwicky of Schofield; one daughter, Gail (Bob) Thompson of Chicago; two step-daughters, Sharon (Rod) Malpert and Diane Mundt of Wausau; ten grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands and parents, Doris was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Dietrich, Ann Slowey and Ruth Dusing; one brother Michael Niermann; three brothers-in-law; and one great-granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 11:00AM at Hogarty Community Church, 4152 Hwy 52, Hogarty. Rev. Roger Davis will officiate. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Aniwa. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00AM until the time of service at the church.
Doris was a loving, kind and humble soul and was truly loved by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be sincerley missed.
