The Alzheimer's Association is calling on Antigo residents to join the fight to end Alzheimer's by participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer's on September 20, 2025. The event will take place at Antigo Middle School, located at 815 Seventh Avenue. The festivities begin at 8:30 a.m., with the Opening Ceremony at 9:40 a.m. The Walk itself will start promptly at 10:00 a.m.
The day promises to be both inspiring and entertaining, with the National Anthem performed by Judy Knudsen and a special performance by the Senior Center Line Dancers. The Alzheimer's Association is also grateful for the dedication of this year's Walk leadership team: Executive Chair Chrisy Hitz from Aspirus Adult Day Care, and Co-Chair Ann Majewski, a retired caregiver.
"We are thrilled to see our community come together for this vital cause," said Chrisy Hitz, Walk to End Alzheimer's - Antigo Executive Chair. "Each step taken and every dollar raised brings us closer to a world without Alzheimer's. Our collective efforts make a real difference in the lives of those affected by this devastating disease."
A touching part of the event is the Promise Garden Ceremony, where participants carry colorful flowers that each represent their personal connection to the disease.
With more than 7 million Americans currently living with Alzheimer's and over 11 million family members and friends providing unpaid care, the need for support is immense. In Wisconsin alone, more than 110,000 people are living with Alzheimer's, supported by tens of thousands of caregivers every day.
