It was a headline-making week for Antigo youth baseball, marked by championship hardware, dominant pitching performances, and hard-fought tournament battles. The 9U Antigo Stallions closed out their summer in storybook fashion by capturing the Tomahawk Tournament title, while the Junior Legion Antigo Typhoons Post #3 put together a gritty 2-2 run in postseason play.
9U Stallions Rally for Championship Glory in Tomahawk
The 9U Stallions wrapped up their season on the ultimate high note, stringing together four consecutive victories to claim the championship trophy at the Tomahawk Tournament.
The tournament started with a bump in the road, as the Stallions dropped a tough 5-3 opener to the host Tomahawk squad. Rather than letting the loss derail them, Antigo regrouped quickly and went on a scoring spree. They exploded past Eau Claire Nationals Red in a 20-2 blowout before outslugging Portage 17-9.
Faced with a rematch against Portage in the bracket, the Stallions tightened up defensively, securing a 4-2 win to punch their ticket to the title game.
That setup a championship rematch with Tomahawk, and the Stallions made the absolute most of the opportunity. Combining timely hitting with clutch defense, Antigo avenged their opening loss with a decisive 10-6 victory to capture the tournament championship.

Jr. Legion Antigo Typhoons Post 2-2 Mark on Road to State
The Antigo Typhoons Jr. Legion Post #3 wrapped up their postseason push at the YMCA Sports Complex with a 2-2 record, highlighted by stellar pitching duals and error-free defensive games.
Game 1: Typhoon 3, St. Marys Springs 1
Right-hander Eli Cornelius set the tone for the tournament on Thursday with a dominant complete-game performance on the mound. Cornelius went all seven innings, striking out nine batters while scattering just three hits and one walk.
After St. Marys Springs scratched across a run in the top of the first, Cornelius shut the door for the rest of the game. Antigo took the lead for good in the third inning behind an RBI groundout from Bentley Knutson, an RBI single to left from Austin Martinson, and an RBI from Ryder Schnappup. Martinson and Knutson led the offense with two hits apiece, while Cale Behrens anchored an error-free defense with nine fielding chances.
Game 2: Beloit Bandits 11, Typhoon 3
Antigo struck first on Friday on a Carter Krueger sacrifice fly in the opening inning, but the Beloit Bandits responded with 11 unanswered runs over the next four frames. Beloit's attack proved too much to contain, powered by multi-RBI games from Pacey Frost, Tyce Ehret, and Braydon Decker. Evan Simmons took the loss for Antigo on the mound.
Game 3: Typhoon 5, Sparta 1
The Typhoons bounced back in a big way on Saturday behind flawless defense and a strong combined effort on the mound. Bentley Knutson got Antigo on the board early with an RBI single in the first. After Sparta tied it 1-1 in the third, Antigo reclaimed the lead for good in the fourth off a Sparta error.
Knutson earned the win on the mound, allowing just one hit over three innings. Dawson Hirt-Lindner then provided four scoreless innings of relief, scattering one hit to lock down the save. Defensively, Evan Simmons led the charge with a game-high 10 chances without an error.
Game 4: Beaver Dam 5, Typhoon 0
Antigo’s tournament came to a close on Sunday against Beaver Dam Post 146 JV. Beaver Dam pitcher Owen Hoekstra held the Typhoon bats in check, delivering a complete-game four-hit shutout. Austin Martinson, Eli Cornelius, Bentley Knutson, and Levi Strobel recorded the sole hits for Antigo, while Strobel took the loss on the mound after giving up three earned runs across four and one-third innings.
