As crisp air and vibrant colors signal the arrival of fall, the Northwoods Chapter of the Ice Age Trail Alliance invites you to experience the season's beauty firsthand. Mark your calendars for the annual Fall Color Hike, also a Mammoth Challenge Hike, on Saturday, October 4, 2025.
This public event offers a chance to explore the beautiful rolling hardwoods of the Harrison Hills in Lincoln County. The planned hike covers approximately 4 miles, with a shuttled shortcut available for those who prefer a shorter walk. It's a perfect opportunity for seasoned hikers and casual walkers alike to enjoy the splendor of our local trails.
The event is free of charge, although free-will offerings are gratefully accepted. The day begins with a meet-up at 9 a.m. in the Recreational parking lot on Highway B. From there, participants will be shuttled to the Harrison East Trailhead on 1st Lake Road to begin the hike. After the walk, participants can enjoy cookies and refreshments back at the Highway B parking lot.
Whether you're coming from Merrill, Tomahawk, or Rhinelander, follow the Ice Age Trail signs to the meeting point on Highway B. For any questions, please contact Ruby Jaecks at brjaecks@outlook.com or 715-551-1118. Don’t miss this wonderful chance to connect with nature and our community.
