John Incha, age 90 of Pickerel, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at Rosalia Gardens in Antigo under the care of LeRoyer Hospice.
John was born on January 5, 1936 in Antigo a son of John W. and Martha (Zielazowski) Incha. He attended Eau Claire Grade School in the town of Ackley, and was a 1954 graduate of Antigo High School.
At age 18 he joined the Wisconsin National Guard, honorably discharged to enter the Army in 1955. He served in West Germany until 1958.
Following military service, John returned to Antigo and worked at Frost Veneer and Vulcan before beginning employment with the Chicago North Western Railroad on June 22, 1959. He was a trainman for thirty-two years, retiring in 1991 due to a work-related disability. John continued his interest in trains and was a regular participant at the monthly "Rails" breakfasts.
He married Mary Johanek in 1962, they had three sons: Steven, Mark and Paul. The couple later divorced.
John enjoyed fishing, reading, and traveling. He will always be remembered for his ability to fix anything and said, "If you are going to do a job, why not do it right?"
He was a member of SS Mary & Hyacinths Catholic Church in Antigo and St. Mary Catholic Church in Pickerel. John served on the Board of Directors for the Chip 'N' Dale Condominium Association in Pickerel.
He is survived by his three sons, Steve (Dr. Eunice Corujo) Incha, Gleason, Mark (Laura Waldvogel) Incha, Post Lake, and Paul (Cindy Hamre) Incha, Fort Atkinson; nine grandchildren, John (Allie) Incha, Dr. Carmen Incha, Morgan (Tollev Gallup) Grant, Matthew Incha, Jillian (Ian Henscheid) Incha, Elyse Incha, Benjamin (Emily Mergener) Incha, Elizabeth Incha, and Samuel Incha; a sister, Carol Incha, Rothschild; and a brother-in-law, Ray Portman, Antigo.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Genevieve (Harold) Colburn, Rita Incha, Joan (Robert) Holzem, Patricia Portman, and Mae (Michael) Prince.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 26 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Pickerel with Rev. Arul Kennedy Gaspar officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. Following Mass burial and Military Honors will be held at the Queen of Peace Cemetery in Antigo.
