Nona Hill, age 91, died on August 7, 2026 at Evergreen Terrace under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was born on December 25, 1934 in Chicago, a daughter of Marvin and Dolores (Wesol) Gohrsch. She married Conrad Hill on February 28, 1954, he preceded her in death in 1988.
She was a graduate of St. Philomena Catholic High School and a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Schaumburg.
After her husband died, Nona enjoyed traveling with her friends. In 2019 she moved to Antigo to be closer to her daughters.
Nona adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to quilt, sew, read, cross stitch, and do jigsaw puzzles. She was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan since childhood and rarely missed a game.
Survivors include three daughters, Debra (Arthur) Smith of Schaumburg, Joanne (Chuck) Sleeter of Pickerel, and Lauren (Ron) Freston of Pickerel; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Eileen Hill and grandson, Rob Tacopina.
A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, August 11 at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo.
Burial will take place at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery in Palatine, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org) or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (cff.org).
