Robert James "Bob" Malitz, age 76, of Pearson, died unexpectedly on August 20, 2026. He was born on June 19, 1950 in Antigo, a son of Emil and Fern (Kneiszel) Malitz. He married Janice "Jan" Schmidt on August 19, 1972 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Elcho.
Bob was a graduate of Elcho High School, class of 1968. A Vietnam veteran, Robert served in the United States Army from April 17, 1970 to January 22, 1972. He received the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He was a Foreman and Lineman for Hooper Corporation for over 50 years. He was a member of the Sparks-Doernenburg American Legion Post 3, Antigo, the Badgerland Classics and Customs Car Club and the Wolf River Riders ATV UTV Club.
He will be remembered for his willingness to help where and whenever he could. He loved his dogs, Willow and Rivers, watching the deer and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Jan; a son, Paul (Adriana) Malitz of Deerbrook; a daughter, Carrie (Mike) Schutt of Antigo; six grandchildren, Justin (Carly) Schutt, Brandon Schutt, Kaitlin Schutt, Michael Mendez, Bryce Malitz (Olivia Heidtman), and Payton Mailtz; a great-granddaughter, Nora Schutt and baby Malitz on the way; a brother, Mike (Jane) Malitz of Mosinee; special nephew and nieces, Herb Malitz,Tricia Malitz and Sarah Drexler.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Malitz; brothers, Donald Malitz, Sr., Ben Malitz, and Herbert Malitz; and sisters, Doris Clements, Jeanne Gelhausen, and Edna Kernin.
A memorial service was held on Friday, August 28 at 11 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial with Military Honors took place at the Pearson Cemetery.
