Kerber Rose vs Mepps Babe Ruth

Posted

A explosive fourth-inning rally propelled Antigo KerberRose to a gritty 10-7 victory over Antigo Mepps on Wednesday evening at the 224 Third Ave ballpark.

The high-scoring affair featured multiple lead changes, defensive miscues, and clutch hits from both local squads.

 Strikes Early
Antigo Mepps wasted no time jumping on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning. William Young sparked the offense with an RBI single down the left-field line. Moments later, Layne Sheldon drove in a second run with a well-executed sacrifice fly, giving Mepps an early 2-0 cushion.

Meppes  extended their lead to 3-0 in the second inning when Colin Wegner beat out an infield single to the right side, driving home another run.

Fights Back
Kerber Rose found life in the bottom of the second, capitalizing on defensive mistakes. Aided by two Mepps errors and an RBI walk from Isaiah Wiebelhaus, KerberRose plated three runs to knot the game at 3-3.

The teams traded punches over the next two frames. Brody Jorgensen put Mepps back on top 4-3 in the third with an RBI groundout, but KerberRose quickly answered in the bottom half, scoring on yet another Mepps defensive error to tie the game at 4-4.

The Decisive Fourth Inning
Mepps appeared to seize control in the top of the fourth. Trever Schroeder laced an RBI single down the right-field line, and a subsequent wild pitch allowed a second runner to cross the plate, pulling Mepps ahead 6-4.

However, the bottom of the fourth belonged entirely to KerberRose. The bats came alive in a relentless, four-hit rally. Waylon Rine started the damage with an RBI single down the left-field line. Austin Jazdzewski then showed discipline at the plate, drawing a bases-loaded walk to force in a run.

Max Sundermeyer kept the line moving with a sharp RBI single to left field, and a final Mepps error allowed the fourth run of the frame to score, capping a massive comeback and giving KerberRose a commanding lead they would not relinquish.

Ace Relief Secures the Win
Alex Kubiaczyk started on the mound for KerberRose, striking out five batters and navigating through three and two-thirds innings. He surrendered six hits and six runs, though only two were earned.

Jacob Brandt took the start for Mepps, racking up an impressive seven strikeouts over three and one-third innings but struggling with control, walking four and allowing eight runs (three earned).

Waylon Rine proved to be the ultimate dual-threat for KerberRose. After his crucial hit in the fourth, Rine took the hill in relief and shut the door on Mepps. He threw one and one-third innings of scoreless, hitless baseball, striking out two to secure the 10-7 victory.
